Russian antitrust to check Samsung for price coordination by 2017
MOSCOW, Nov 22 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service has started checks of South Korean electronics giant Samsung on suspicions of price coordination, which will end by January 2017, a service spokesperson said Tuesday.
“The Federal Antimonopoly Service has asked Samsung for materials on prices of smartphones, starting from January 1, 2015. Preliminary results of the check will be available by January 2017,” the spokesperson said.
Samsung said it had received the authority’s inquiry and is preparing the response.
“Business activities of Samsung Electronics in Russia are in strict compliance with the Russian law. In its work, Samsung Electronics is guided by principles of fair competition,” a Samsung spokesperson said.
The antimonopoly service opened a similar case against Apple, which has allegedly coordinated prices of its flagship iPhone 6S and 6S Plus on the Russian market.
